If there is finish flaking off, it needs to be sanded down to bare wood, re-stained and fresh urethane applied. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to partially refinish a door and have it look good.  Please don't just brush on more varnish on top, it will only make it more difficult to refinish correctly later. 

 When we arrive we will get right to work. Our process includes removing the lock hardware, removing the door, taping 3.5 mil plastic up in the void where the door was, carefully masking off to protect the surrounding surfaces and glass, power and hand sanding off the old finish and stain, re-staining with our proprietarty waterborne wood stain, applying 3 heavy coats of our proprietarty UV resistant waterborne Satin sheen urethane, re-hanging the door, re-install the lockset hardware and clean up.

All of this can be done in one day, with your like new again door dry, back up and functional before we leave.

We have often filled our production queue out several months in past years so we schedule dates a week at a time, about two weeks ahead of our arrival.  This allows us to keep an eye on the weather forecast and work around rain/snow/temps below 50 degrees.
